Emile Mayer's F minor Symphony performed 91¸£ÀûÉç Philharmonic Orchestra
Linton Stephens introduces an afternoon of specially made recordings including musical highlights from the 91¸£ÀûÉç Philharmonic, LSO St Luke's and Ensemble Molière.
Linton Stephens presents an afternoon of exceptional music-making from the 91¸£ÀûÉç Philharmonic Orchestra. Frank Bridge’s Enter Spring bursts with energy and colour, while Émile Mayer’s Symphony in F minor offers sweeping romantic intensity. Bohuslav Martinů’s The Rock is a rhythmic, nature-inspired orchestral study, and Jean Sibelius’ The Swan of Tuonela provides a hauntingly beautiful depiction of still, dark waters, featuring a solo cor anglais.
From LSO St Luke’s, pianist Simon Crawford-Phillips is joined by pianist Philip Moore and violist Lawrence Power for an intimate chamber performance.
Ensemble Molière, the 91¸£ÀûÉç Radio 3 New Generation Baroque Ensemble, also features, performing works by Mademoiselle Duval, Jacques Duphly and Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre with their distinctive flair for French Baroque style.
