Soprano Camilla Tilling and pianist Paul Rivinius live from Wigmore Hall
Linton Stephens introduces an afternoon of specially made recordings including soprano Camilla Tilling and pianist Paul Rivinius live from London's Wigmore Hall.
Linton Stephens presents an afternoon of exceptional music-making, featuring a live concert from Wigmore Hall. Swedish soprano Camilla Tilling’s silvery tones and her sensitive response to poetic texts frequently earn her glowing reviews. She and regular duo partner, Paul Rivinius, preface the poignant Kindertotenlieder with beautiful songs by Mahler’s Swedish contemporary Emil Sjörgen and the aptly-named cycle Hjärtats Sånger (Songs of the Heart) by his much younger countryman, Gunnar de Frumerie.
Elsewhere in the programme, the 91¸£ÀûÉç Symphony Orchestra performs a varied selection of works. These include Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7 in D minor, a powerful and dramatic symphony often regarded as one of his finest; Borodin’s In the Steppes of Central Asia, an evocative piece that paints a vivid musical landscape; and Vaughan Williams’ The Steersman, a reflective and lyrical work featuring baritone Jacques Imbrailo.
From LSO St Luke’s, pianist Simon Crawford-Phillips is joined by violinist Malin Broman and soprano Sophie Bevan for an intimate chamber performance.
Ensemble Molière, the first 91¸£ÀûÉç Radio 3 New Generation Baroque Ensemble, also features, performing works by Guillemain and Corrette with their characteristic flair for French Baroque style.
