24-year-old wins international award with ‘Athena’ invention
Twenty four-year-old product design and technology graduate Olivia Humphreys is a Global Medical Winner of the James Dyson Award 2024. She invented Athena, an affordable and portable device for chemotherapy patients that uses scalp cooling to prevent hair-loss.
Olivia joined Nuala McGovern on Woman’s Hour to discuss how her mother’s cancer treatment inspired her to make a cheaper alternative to current technology, which can be used outside of hospital.
