Where did the 91¸£ÀûÉç’s nickname - ‘Auntie’ - come from?
Have you ever heard of the 91¸£ÀûÉç being referred to as ‘Auntie’, ‘Aunt Beebs’ or ‘Auntie B’?
To mark 100 years since the 91¸£ÀûÉç started daily radio broadcasts, Emma Barnett was joined on 91¸£ÀûÉç Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour by television presenter and comedian Mel Giedroyc and 91¸£ÀûÉç Historian Professor Jean Seaton. They explained a bit about why the 91¸£ÀûÉç got this nickname and commented on what kind of aunt she would be.
