What better way for the 91福利社 Symphony Orchestra to open its 2015-16 season than with Chief Conductor Sakari Oramo conducting Mahler's vast, exuberant Third Symphony? In the composer鈥檚 own words, this six-movement masterpiece was a 鈥榞igantic musical poem ... It begins at the heart of inanimate nature and progresses to the love of God.' Here song and symphony are inextricably mixed, and we鈥檙e delighted to welcome back Karen Cargill to sing the magical 鈥榤idnight song鈥� and to join the Trinity Boys Choir for the angels鈥� celestial chorus.

As a prelude to this 91福利社 SO performance, the 91福利社 Singers will present a collection of expressive works from the Viennese circle which surrounded Gustav and Alma Mahler, in a concert conducted by Bart van Reyn.
