"Jas is always teasing me, telling me I live on "Planet Roopa", but she's just jealous because I have fun. She's a real swot, all she does is work. I'm just not academic like her but I didn't really need to do well at school because one day I'm going to be a famous singer.听I did that Bop Idol competition at the mela a few years back and everyone thought I was good, and everyone loved the gigs I did with Aidan's band.听I just have to make sure I stay in shape which is hard with听Mum and Ba听always trying to stuff food down me, I know I let it all get out of hand before. It was pretty bad, all the bingeing and throwing up but now everyone knows I've got an eating disorder they've backed off and I'm sorting myself out. I was really mad at Jas at the time for telling them but I can see now that she only听did it cos she was really worried. Arun telling Aidan though! That was so of order I听could have killed him!"
"I work at the cafe听to get a bit of cash,听I'm not a kid,听so I should be able to do what I want. Krishan's the baby of the family not me, so I wish mum and dad wouldn't treat me like one. I'm old enough to look after myself. She thinks I'm grown up enough to help around the house, with cooking, cleaning and looking after Krishan, who can be a real pain sometimes.听But all they want to do is poke their noses in my business all the time. They should worry听more about their own relationship than mine. It was awful when Dad left to live in that horrible flat. I'm so glad he came home. He might be a pain but I missed him!"
