Helen Love

Last updated: 07 July 2009

One of Wales' longest-lived and fondly regarded bands, Helen Love were one of the late John Peel's favourite bands, and remain one of Mark Radcliffe's top listens. Having 91¸£ÀûÉç DJ cognoscenti appeal, though, is only part of the story.

Formed in 1992, the band met in time-honoured fashion at college, and rehearsed at Helen's mum's house. In keeping with the familial involvement in the nascent career of Helen Love, it was the singer's own brother who sent off a demo tape that landed the trio with the influential but small independent label Damaged Goods.
