Herefordshire grower Rob Hancocks says his apples' sugar levels are at a ‘once in a generation’ high, with the 2025 harvest affected by a shortage of rain. The Celtic Marches specialist tells Elliott Webb that whilst the concentration of sugar in the apples are high, the hot weather has also led to individual apples being much smaller than they normally are.
