A play described as a Love Letter to Birmingham is hitting London this month. Local writer Nathan Queeley-Dennis is the brains behind the one man show called "Bullring Techno Makeout Jamz" - which is on at The Royal Court. Referred to as a refreshingly healthy portrayal of black masculinity, the show is a deeply comedic love letter to Queeley-Dennis’ hometown of Birmingham, and the ‘Bullring’ shopping centre. It sold out the Roundabout at Summerhall at the Edinburgh Fringe in August and received critical acclaim. The play is a one-man romantic odyssey exploring ideas of black masculinity through Beyonce lyrics, techno raves and the deeply sacred relationship between a man and his barber.
