The prime minister of Iceland, Katr铆n Jakobsd贸ttir, has joined a national women鈥檚 strike to protest against gender-based violence and pay discrimination. It鈥檚 not the first time that Icelandic women have walked out. The last major strike in 1975 is credited with bringing about huge societal change. Newshour鈥檚 Rebecca Kesby speaks to Kristin Astgeirsdottir, one of those at the protests in 1975, and an organiser of today鈥檚 strikes.
