How to keep bees warm and alive in the winter

Newshour

Available for over a year

Every winter, it's thought about 20 per cent of honeybees die from the colder weather. Scientists say they have found a way of warming up bees that have entered - what they call - chill-coma and so preventing them - and potentially the rest of the hive - from dying. Dr Rob Mills, from the Mobile Robotic Systems Group at Lausanne Polytechnic in Switzerland, took part in the research. He told Newshour's Rob Young more about bees and the cold.
