“All over the cities they attack doctors, they go to their surgeries, they threaten them”

Newshour

Available for over a year

A doctor from inside Iran tells Newshour how the patients he has treated in the wake of the demonstrations have been beaten with batons, how they have bruises on their bodies and how many of them have fractured bones. Most patients he has treated are teenagers and young people, but there have been others in their 40s. “They’ve been shot in their hands, their legs, even their faces and their fingers”. The doctor talks of a campaign of persecution and intimidation against doctors in Iran, where they are attacked, hunted down and threatened. We are not identifying the doctor and his testimony was translated and voiced by a producer for his safety.
