How a new cannabis-based drug is being used in Leeds to tackle brain tumours

Richard Stead

Available for over a year

Enough money has been raised for Leeds to stage trials of a new cannabis-based drug which could help people suffering from brain tumours. The trial is being supported by Olympic gold medallist Tom Daley, whose dad died from a brain tumour. Experts hope it will eventually help increase survival rates for people with the most deadly form of brain cancer, glioblastoma. More than 2,000 people are diagnosed with it every year in England alone. The Brain Tumour Charity has raised 拢400,000 to start trialing a mouth spray called Sativex. in partnership with the University of Leeds.
