Afghanistan: What is Panjshir Valley?

Outside Source

Available for over a year

Several thousand anti-Taliban fighters are reported to be holding out against the Taliban in a remote valley with a narrow entrance - little more than 30 miles or so from the capital Kabul - in Panjshir Valley. There have been clashes between the Taliban and the opposition fighters there, who include some of the Afghan army. But what is Panjshir Valley like, why is it significant and how did it become known as the "unconquerable" valley? 聽 Ahmed (not his real name), who has since left the valley, describes what it was like living there before and during the Afghanistan war.
