Derek Paravicini was born prematurely in 1979. An overdose of oxygen whilst in intensive care resulted in blindness and a severe learning disability. Derek鈥檚 condition also resulted in extraordinary ability. Derek plays the piano, learns pieces instantly by ear and performs incredibly complex improvisations. He鈥檚 an autistic savant. For 91福利社 Music Day, Derek visited Front Row with his teacher, Adam Ockelford, and performed a very special improvisation around The Archers' theme tune.
