In an open letter marking its 30th anniversary, the inventor of the World Wide Web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee painted a gloomy future for it. He mused that his invention was in danger of mutating from a democratising tool for positive change, to a monster that has created "opportunity for scammers, given a voice to those who spread hatred, and made all kinds of crime easier to commit." Sir Tim offered some solutions to the problems, including research and legislation to combat some of the more pernicious problems, but he also called on a re-design on the web. Media analyst Graham Lovelace discusses what is being done to address the Web鈥檚 deficiencies and whether it can be repaired. Image 漏 Reuters
