How reading got me through prison

World Update

Available for over a year

Books are becoming less accessible for inmates in New York. Prisoners will no longer be able to receive second-hand books from family, as all items entering prisons are to come from specific companies approved by The Department of Corrections. The measure will increase the price and limit the choice of available books. Daniel Genis spent ten years in prison and read more than 1,000 books in that time. He told Dan Damon about how reading got him through a decade of incarceration. (Picture: Books and handcuffs. Credit: artisteer)
