The 2017 IAAF awards took place in Monaco to recognise the success of athletes around the world. Ans Botha, who coaches the 400m world champion and world record holder, South Africa's Wayde van Niekerk, received the prestigious "Coaching Achievement Award". Botha is a former athlete who competed in the sprints and long jump for Namibia, before starting a career in coaching in the late 1960's.
