Matthew James is a tennis coach at a Millfield School in Somerset. He signed up to be a hitter, who helps to warm up the players, during the Championship. In the first week, he was picked by Garbiñe Muguruza, who won her first Wimbledon Singles title. The Welshman practised with Garbiñe before every round of the tournament. Garbiñe and her coaching staff were very superstitious and Matthew was told not to shave or cut his hair throughout the fortnight. Matthew was interviewed before the Ladies final, live on Sportshour, as part of the Wimbledon Special.
