I invented an implant to treat my hearing loss

World Business Report

Available for over a year

It's estimated about one in six people around the world have some form of hearing loss. That's more than a billion people. Significant advances in technology are helping to radically change many of those people's lives. Geoffrey Ball was a young child in the US when he developed hearing loss. Conventional hearing aids didn't work that well for him. So he decided to look for a way to hear properly again, and he succeeded. He's developed a system that is implanted into a patient's head. Geoffrey is now the Chief Technology Officer at the Austrian firm MED-EL, and he spoke with the 91福利社's Rob Young. (Picture: A man's ear. Picture credit: Thinkstock.)
