Model trains are proving more popular than ever with people of all ages. Robert Denton, Reading Society of Model Engineers: "There is a magical period for children, which I would say is from about 2 when they discover Thomas the Tank Engine, up to the age of 10. And children are still very fascinated with trains generally. "Over at the club we run a scheme called the Young Engineers, where kids who want to become more involved with the engineering side of it...where they're taught the component parts of it all.
