In 1974, at the age of 16, Diana Defries was made to give her child up for adoption by the Catholic Church, as she had given birth outside of wedlock. The Church has now apologised to the the thousands of victims of forced adoptions which took place in the decades following World War II, but Diana told Dan Damon it does nothing to repair the damage that was done.
