Faith and homophobia

Connections

Available for over a year

Bradford College is holding a two-day event looking at some of the difficulties facing lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, and transgender groups who come from families with strong religious views. It has been organised by Matt Ogston of the Naz and Matt Foundation. Matt's fiance and partner of 13 years, Nazim Mahmood, took his own life in 2014, jumping from the balcony of their flat, after his deeply religious family confronted him about his sexuality. The foundation was set up to tackle homophobia triggered by religion and to help parents accept their children. Ahmer Bashir is one of the organisers of the event
