Southern rail co-owner Go-Ahead has reported a profit of nearly 拢100m and apologised for major ongoing disruptions to its railway services. Simon Weller, assistant general secretary of Aslef, the UK train drivers' union, told Edward Stourton the Go Ahead group were "doing it on the cheap" and argued the rail group should cross-subsidise to "prop up" the loss making parts of the business.
