South Sudan condemns AU troop plans

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

African leaders have approved plans to deploy a regional intervention force to South Sudan. Their deployment aims to end fighting which continues to hamper a peace agreement between President Salva Kiir and first Vice President Riek Machar. A 12,000-strong UN peacekeeping force is already in place in South Sudan. Soldiers for the AU force are to come from Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan and Uganda. So why is Juba opposed to the move? Information Minister Michael Makuei Lueth speaks to 91福利社 Africa's Audrey Brown.
