How do you get a nation reading?

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

It's a tall order in a country like Uganda where a novel can cost a week's wages for many. The solution might be to start with young children. In Uganda literacy stands at about 70% and many people will tell you very few read for pleasure. But a new initiative - a children's mobile library is hoping to change that. Books are delivered on the back of motorbike taxis. The 91福利社's Catherine Byaruhanga reports. (Photo: Rosey Sembatya charges an annual $30 fee for children to read three books a week)
