A new era for women's ice hockey

Sport Today

Available for over a year

For the first time in history, women are being paid as professional ice hockey players. The National Women's Hockey League began in the United States on 11 October with a match between the New York Riveters and the Cincinnati Whale. Goaltender Jenny Scrivens was in the Riveters team that made history on Sunday. She told Sport Today's Steve Crossman that it's a significant day for the sport.
