Kenyan music lovers may soon be forced to adjust their tastes as the government has taken a first step towards promoting local music in the country. A new policy proposes that it will be mandatory for broadcasters to dedicate 60% of their music output to works by local artists. The National Music Policy was launched after Kenyan musicians staged a protest demanding more airtime for their songs, as opposed to foreign music which is quite popular in the country.
