Schools should be 'more open' about radicalisation risks

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Schools, families and friends need to be more "more open" about the risks of radicalisation, two fourteen-year-old British Muslims have said. The pupils from a London-based school had recently attended an anti-radicalisation discussion featuring the Muslim comedian Humza Badman as part of the government's PREVENT programme. They agreed that "prevention is better than cure" but it would be "difficult at first" to speak to adults including police, parents and teachers if they were worried about their friends. The teenagers in this report are taking part in the 91福利社 School Report project. School Report works with schools to help children make their own radio, television and online news features.
