Stephen Johnson explores Brahms' Second Symphony, with excerpts and a complete performance from the 91福利社 National Orchestra of Wales, conducted by Theodore Kuchar. While Brahms's First Symphony took nearly 20 years to complete, his second - in D - was written in only one summer holiday in Portschach, an alpine area by the Wothersee that also inspired Mahler and Berg.
