The smell of banana roti. The kolam on the front door. Getting dressed up for a celebration. For many, Diwali, the festival mainly celebrated by Hindus, and Bandi Chhor Divas, marked by Sikhs, can bring back memories of childhood and family traditions. But what happens to those traditions when you grow up? And what can we learn about ourselves and our cultures from those experiences? Amber Haque speaks to Asian Network presenters Shankeya Jay and Valissa Chauhan, as well as podcaster Jaskaran Singh Mavi, also known as Doctor. They share their childhood memories, talk about growing up between cultures and explore what happens when we start to adapt and eventually choose which traditions we want to take on. Asian Network Trending: The biggest stories affecting Asian Network listeners across the UK with Amber Haque. Produced in Birmingham by Samsaara Productions for 91¸£ÀûÉç Asian Network.
