Trade between the two was worth £23.8 billion to Britain last year and every person in Ireland spends an average of £3,607 on British goods each year. According to the last census around five million people in the UK have an Irish grandparent or parent - are you one of these people? Ireland has accepted a bail-out of around £77 billion in a deal designed to safeguard its debt-ridden banks, and its economy.
