Fact checking the claim that Nigerian politicians earn more than 1.7million dollars. Plus, does eating yams cause Nigeria鈥檚 Yoruba communities to have twins?

Two claims from Nigeria are scrutinised this week. First we look at news reports stating that: 鈥渁 Nigerian senator earns 1.7 million US dollars year, far higher than the salary of the US President.鈥 We also hear of a popular belief going back decades which has appeared again on social media - that yam consumption has led to Nigeria鈥檚 Yoruba people having the world鈥檚 highest twin birth rate. But is there any evidence for this? We talk to the fact-checkers at Africa Check.
