The lighthouse on the edge
Belle Tout escaped the cliff edge once – but the sea is coming again.
Perched high above Beachy Head, Belle Tout has survived shipwrecks, wartime shelling, and a daring 17m (56ft) move inland.
Today it stands restored as a dramatic clifftop holiday retreat, its history woven into every room – even as its owner keeps a wary eye on the advancing sea.
