Cases of 'Victorian' illness, gout, are continuing to surge across the UK - with Liverpool being dubbed 'Britain's Gout Capital', after an almost 1,000% skyrocket in cases. Around 1 in 40 people in the UK suffer with the condition, which causes聽inflammation and arthritis of the joint. It's known as the 'disease of kings', with King Henry VIII famously having it. Experts say the recent rise in cases is down to ultra-processed foods that are low in fibre and minerals.
