How weight loss could put type 2 diabetes in remission
Type 2 diabetes can be a devastating disease - and treating the disease is increasingly a burden for health services all over the world.
But new encouraging research suggests weight loss can only put the disease in short-term remission, but - for nearly a quarter of patients - keep them free of diabetes for at least five years.
Professor Roy Taylor of Newcastle University is the co-author of the research. He explains how it works.
