UN condemns ban on women working for NGOs
The United Nations has accused the Taliban of violating fundamental rights, after Afghanistan's Islamist rulers imposed more restrictions on the lives of women. They've been banned from working for aid agencies. The Taliban said female employees had not followed their interpretation of the Islamic dress code. Graeme Smith is a senior consultant for the International Crisis Group. He has visited and written about Afghansitan since 2005. What does he think is the explanation for the Taleban's latest edict on women and aid agencies.
