'I am who I am'

Dr Joan Heggie joined the army at the age of 16 鈥� it鈥檚 all she ever wanted to do. After 7 years she was forced to leave her dream job simply for being gay.

With the support of her family and through her work as a research fellow at Teesside University, she has since turned that experience into a positive one.
