The death of George Floyd in police custody has sparked days of protests in the US, many of which have turned violent and led to further accusations of racism and excessive use of force by officers.

Someone who has been challenging the way that the US justice system treats African Americans for decades is the lawyer and social justice activist, Bryan Stevenson. He's founder and executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative, and a clinical professor at New York University School of Law. He's told Newshour's Razia Iqbal about his own experiences of racism and his hopes for change.
