Bellfield Junior School: A Govenors Meeting
For the past 9 months, the World at One has been following a primary school in a deprived area of Birmingham to see where it spends its money and how far that money will stretch.
At the start of this academic year Bellfield Junior School in Northfield went down to a four and a half day week – a measure which has saved them £50,000 and surprisingly, which has also improved their attendance levels.
Emma Jane Kirby listened in at a governor’s meeting, where some governors were shocked at how tight the budget and staffing levels had become.
