A landlord has paid 拢13,000 to fix his property, after cavity wall insulation caused it to be 鈥渞iddled鈥 with damp.
Peter Leonard, from Blackpool, spent 拢2000 for the extraction of the insulation and 拢11,000 on repairs, after part of the floor 鈥渃ollapsed鈥.
He does not know who the original installer was, but has found out that the material used was not meant to be used in an area close to the coast.
鈥淚t鈥檚 taking out moisture from the outside of the property and bringing it inside,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 like living inside a sponge鈥.
鈥淲e believe people have been paid heavily for doing [the cavity wall insulation], and it鈥檚 only ourselves and the tenants that are suffering.鈥
Mr Leonard鈥檚 tenant, Carley, said the damp had been 鈥渉orrendous, horrible to live in鈥 and had been affecting both her own and her daughter鈥檚 asthma.
The full programme, in which 5 live Investigates examines the problems caused by the mis-selling of cavity wall insulation, will be broadcast on Sunday 15 February 2015.
