In 2004 Sir Patrick Moore hosted a Transit of Venus party in his garden. Astronomers flocked from all over the country and they were lucky with the weather. The sun shone from beginning to end as the planet Venus marched across its surface. For Patrick, it was one of the most moving and wonderful experiences of his life.
