A History of the World is a partnership between the 91¸£ÀûÉç and the British Museum that focuses on world history, involving collaborations between teams across the 91¸£ÀûÉç, and schools, museums and audiences across the UK. The project focuses on the things we have made, from flint to mobile phone.

This week's objects lead Neil MacGregor, Director of the British Museum, to travel some of the great trade routes of history over a thousand years ago – he begins in the English countryside.
