Smyrna Recollections by Turkish accordionist and folk music collector Muammer Ketencoglu attempt to revive the tolerant spirit of Old Smyrna (modern-day Izmir) through Turkish, Greek and Jewish Folk Songs from the area. Another Turkish musician, percussionist Burhan Ocal reaches out a bit further: to the Tunisia-born Paris-based musician and record producer Smadj.
