St James’ Church in Sutton, Cheshire

Bells on Sunday comes from St James’ Church in Sutton, Cheshire.

Bells on Sunday comes from St James’ Church in Sutton, Cheshire. In 1879, following the installation of the clock in the tower, a ring of six bells was installed in a wooden frame. Sadly, there were serious problems with the frame and in 1926 a new peal of six bells was cast and installed in a cast-iron frame by John Taylor of Loughborough. The Tenor bell weighs eleven and three-quarters hundredweight and is tuned to the note of G. We hear them on the centenary of their installation ringing Cambridge Surprise Minor.
