Wetherby 5
There are stalls of antiques galore to tempt two teams of nurses and teachers at Wetherby in West Yorkshire. Danny Sebastian is at the helm, and there’s expert guidance from Philip Serrell.
Since the time of the Saxons, a horn has been blown in Ripon’s market square every single night. It’s believed to be the oldest continuous ceremony in the world! Danny Sebastian meets four local men and women whose job it is to sound the horn, come rain or shine, in a custom dating back more than a thousand years. But which team will be blowing their own trumpet at the auction at the end of the programme?
On the red team are a musical mum and daughter Louise and Sue. In blue are teaching friends Inderjit and Emma, who are not only work colleagues but watch the show together! Their companions for the shopping at Wetherby Racecourse are experts Philip Serrell and Charles Hanson. Auctioneer Caroline Hawley is on the rostrum to sell their lots - gavel in hand.
