Abby, a Cambridge graduate, is in search of a meaningful connection. She encounters David, seemingly the perfect match鈥攕uccessful, intellectual and they share some common ground. However, behind David's charming facade lies a darker reality.
Abby first senses something isn鈥檛 quite right after David avoids making their relationship official. Soon she discovers he has no intention of committing. It鈥檚 too late for Abby to withdraw now as she has fallen for him.
David displays disturbing patterns of behaviour 鈥� ghosting, weekend refusals, freedom for him to pursue any partner - yet expects different behaviour from her. Vulnerable after a redundancy, Abby stays with David, only for things to get worse.
He becomes more possessive and distrustful and borders on the threatening leaving Abby walking on eggshells. The emotional abuse turns to physical after a death in the family and once the barrier is broken Abby begins to fear for her life.
