Episode 9

Episode 9 of 15

A haul of suspected cannabis plants is found at a residential home, stolen bike parts are discovered in a derelict hotel, and dogs sniff out drugs at the airport.

PC Jen Suter and PC Tyler Kendall are called to a scene in Hamilton to assist fellow officers after the discovery of over a dozen large plants believed to be cannabis and which are growing in a residential garden. The drug squad are called in, and as the team of officers document and remove the plants for testing, the homeowner arrives and casually admits they are his. Inside the property, the officers remove what is suspected to be more cannabis. A confession is taken under caution, but with the amount involved, officers must consider whether this is personal cultivation or something more organised?

Across the island, PCs Adam Thompson and Melissa Butler head to a derelict seaside resort, following reports of trespassers. Inside the abandoned buildings, they discover stripped motorbike frames, scattered parts and makeshift tools, signs that the site could be a chop shop for dismantling stolen bikes. Crime Scene Investigator Tianna Mullan joins them, though the island鈥檚 humidity and the building鈥檚 exposure make recovering usable fingerprint evidence a challenge.

At Bermuda鈥檚 international airport, PC Paul 'Geordie Watson teams up with customs officers and drug-detection dog units to screen luggage from a flight arriving out of New Jersey. Three bags raise the alarm from the dogs, prompting secondary searches in a secure area. Officer Geordie knows the dogs are rarely wrong. Will their sniffing detective work hit on something suspicious in the travellers' belongings?

Detective Damon Hollis and the drugs squad carry out a tightly controlled operation to destroy large quantities of seized narcotics from multiple investigations. Under the scrutiny of senior officers and independent witnesses, every item is logged, counted and signed off before being escorted to a secure facility. We follow the final, dramatic steps and the incineration of the evidence. What matters for Damon is ensuring that dangerous drugs are permanently taken off the streets.
