Andy Burnham says he will try to run for Parliament

The Mayor of Manchester is to request permission to stand in an upcoming by-election.

The Labour MP for Makerfield has offered to give up his seat to allow the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, a chance to get into Parliament and possibly bid for the Labour leadership.
