Lopa Kothari interviews English folk songwriter Piers Faccini and Malian kora virtuoso Ballak茅 Sissoko to discuss their first collaboration in 20 years - the album 'Our Calling'. Their record - the product of two decades of friendship - experiments with Malian traditional rhythms as well as British and Mediterranean folk song forms to explore the theme of migration using the symbolism of birds. Alongside the conversation, we'll hear highlights from their sold-out performance at the Paris Philharmonie's Cit茅 de la musique concert room where they brought their intimate and intuitive improvisatory style of music-making to a live audience.
Elsewhere in the show, Lopa plays selections from the likes of the late latin Jazz pioneer Eddie Palmieri, the Belgian-Italian trio Peixe e Lim茫o, and Reunion鈥檚 Luc Moindranz茅 Karioudja.
